In 1984, I took a solo trip through northern India and Nepal for two months. At 18, I discovered the power and grandeur of the sculptures in the temples of Khajuraho, Ajanta, Elora, and others. I took hundreds of photographs (negatives and slides) and dozens of drawings of female nudes and couples embracing. Shiva and Parvati were always depicted embracing and caressing, and it was in one of the temples in Agra, not far from the Taj Mahal, that I… drew this couple, making them my own by geometrizing the figures while preserving the image of affection and the tenderness of love.
Rodolfo Navarro is an artist with over 40 years of experience who has expressed himself through drawing, printmaking, photography, and sculpture since the age of 13, with international exhibitions in various countries. He uses all techniques, exploring the transition between figuration and geometry close to the abstract, blurring forms in an infinite play. His works invite you to immerse yourself in spaces where the architectural transformation of the human figure awakens a connection with the viewer. Born in Valencia in 1966, he spent his childhood in the workshop of his father, a goldsmith and jeweler, and his mother, who made artistic enamels. He established a Master-Disciple relationship with Rafael Pérez Contel, reminiscent of the Renaissance. He set up his first professional studio in Paris from 1991 to 1997. He married Marie-Noëlle in 2002; they have four daughters. He currently divides his time between working at his studios in Valencia (Spain), Beijing (China) and Balaruc-les-bains (Occitanie, France).
