About this artwork
I was just a child the first time I saw Star Wars at the movie theater. I was fascinated watching the opening dialogue "In a galaxy far far away..." being projected against the grandiose emptiness of the universe. I decided to create this painting to commemorate those feelings and emotions of watching Star Wars for the first time. I imagined what would it be like, as a child, to being able to travel in space with some of my favorite cartoon characters.

Ruben Nieto was born in Veracruz, Mexico. He holds a BFA from the Universidad de Guanajuato and an MFA in Arts and Technology from The University of Texas at Dallas. Nieto has shown internationally in Switzerland, Germany, Spain, France, Canada, Mexico, and the U.S.
