Sideralites: rocks of asternization, stones of the stars, cosmic pebbles.
To enclose within a soft and simple form, a product of meteorization, a miniature fragment of the universe.
Fictional micro-meteorites, pure phenomenology, stemming from the imprint of time, the elements, chance, tellurism and a certain nostalgia sprinkled with cometary dust.
Stippling in India ink on paper
420 x 594 mm
2022-2024
A catalogue that is established simultaneously… in duration and multiplicity. An observatory of primordial chaos (and) of space, where India ink deposits point by point on the paper the traces of stars forever extinguished.
Séverine Bourgeois primarily uses India ink, graphite, and lead pencil, drawing inspiration from her unique visual perception. Her traditional techniques explore figuration and abstraction, playing with stippling and black and white to distort perspective and manipulate boundaries. Through her works, she conveys a profound duality, imbued with poetry, mystery, and melancholy, seeking to unsettle and overwhelm with the power of her contrasts and paradoxes.
