About this artwork
The Cannon Woman, besides being a work created in homage to the master Fernando Botero, was created with the intention of raising awareness among the viewer about equal opportunities and the freedom to appear without fear in any setting and context. I depicted Botero's famous ballerina alongside her sinuous, slender shadow, a symbol of transformation, desire, and inner identity.
In this dialogue between real body and shadow, the theme of fragility… also emerges: that fragility often hidden behind the need for acceptance, behind the stereotypes imposed by society, and behind the constant comparison with unattainable models. The figure, despite its dramatic power, reveals the delicate nature of those seeking their place in the world without sacrificing their authenticity.
