About this artwork
Während der digitalen Arbeit an „King“, in der ich Fotografie, Aquarellskizze, Pastellskizze und Malphasen des Ölbildes "The new" zusammenbrachte, hörte ich die Neuerscheinung der Sängerin Florence and the Machine: „King“.
Worum es geht, ist relativ schnell klar, wenn man den Lyrics folgt. In einem Interview sagt Florence Folgendes:
„The track addresses the tough realities of being a woman in the music industry, referencing motherhood, marriage,… and femininity. The track explores the sacrifices that all women – not just artists – make in their careers, attacking the tensions between becoming a mother and sustaining a career.“
Die benötigte zusätzliche Energie, die Zweifel, das Aufstehen und auch das Brechen von Stereotypen – diese Themen sind auch in der Kunstszene nach wie vor präsent.
Ich saß im Zug, starrte auf meinen Bildschirm, hörte Florence zu, schloss nach vielen Stunden der Bearbeitung die Datei und tippte „King“ in die Zeile bei „Speichern unter“ ein.
