About this artwork
This work, with its contrasting statements, reflects hope and anxiety in a dialogue regarding the future. In phases of change, confidence and uncertainty often resonate, as seen in the rising and falling green lines. In the background, an infinity symbol can be discerned, written with fine ink pens.
In my large-format calligraphic works, I meticulously write a single, concisely formulated sentence—a kind of life lesson—using ink on graph paper.… Through seemingly endless, uniform repetition, everything is condensed into a delicate, graphic whole. The letters are arranged precisely one below the other, creating a textile-like structure that is further emphasized by contrasting patterns. From a distance, these calligraphic works appear as purely decorative fabrics or tapestries, and reading them is initially of secondary importance. Only upon closer inspection does the intended meaning become apparent.
