About this artwork
Like so many people, I try to capture the best possible moment with my digital camera by taking many photos in quick succession. These short, captured sequences, on the one hand, preserve a period of time, but on the other hand, they often overshadow my own memories later on. As a basis for my paintings, I search these photos on the computer for fragments that were barely noticeable in the actual event. I then transform selected sections into linear…
outline drawings, which I project onto canvas. The resulting areas are filled with acrylic paint in a watercolor-like style, reflecting the fleeting nature of the moment. The question of the nature of memory and how one can preserve it has long preoccupied me.
