About this artwork
I began with an abstract, a garden that doesn’t quite exist, an autumn dream painted in blues drifting into olive greens, with soft pinks blooming like late flowers. Saskia van Drunen (1971) is a Dutch artist whose process reveals an artist deeply engaged in the exploration of the inner emotional lives of her subjects, often capturing the quiet, vulnerable moments of women in a way that feels both personal and universal. Her technique combines careful figurative detail with abstracted, textured elements, creating a sense of timelessness and depth that resonates with viewers on an intimate level. Through her thoughtful use of colour, shape, and texture, she not only portrays beauty but also evokes the complexity of personal introspection, inviting viewers to find their own reflections within her work.
Saskia’s work is a burst of life and energy, and it invites the viewer to discover and connect with their own emotions.
