About this artwork
This piece was born from the concept Deeply Human. The inspiration led to a vision of the seamless connection between human and nature – not as separate elements, but as parts of one beautifully interwoven whole.
The female figure transforms into a rocky shoreline, cradling two new lives – quiet and timeless like smooth stones. The landscape exudes strong red lines like a bloodline. The entire moment feels like an understanding of motherhood, continuity,… and connection.
This work is an homage to how deeply human experiences – motherhood, closeness, and peace – can be expressed through the forms of nature. At the same time, it reminds us that humans are not external observers of nature, but a beautiful part of its tapestry.
Primarily an oil painter, Satu Helle's background in traditional art was tempered by her mother's influence. She expertly manipulates brush, knife, or her own fingers across unconventional surfaces like glass or metal, and an ever-evolving color scheme that breathes life into her works. Her work evokes the beauty and tranquility found in nature, aiming to instill these emotions into her viewers.
