About this artwork
FallRaven is a two piece wall sculpture made from pigmented lacquer on MDF. Both pieces are virtually identical and are facing opposite each other. I made this piece during the Covid 19 pandemic as I wanted to make some work that I had never got around to making in the past. With extra time available, I made this diptych first, as I was curious to see it translated to a two dimensional form. The piece was inspired by the Art Deco and mid century…
modern movements where flat colored, graphical driven pieces were popular. The result is a piece that commands attention in any room. It is both striking and whimsical and adds a certain vintage feel wherever it is placed.
The pieces are wired to hang. The overall dimension reflects the size of both pieces with space in between. Each piece separately is 23" x 25.5" x 2". The piece could be positioned horizontally is desired.

« I am a wood sculpture artist obsessed with form, balance, and composition in a formalist and modernist manner, working predominately with wood as a medium. »
Scott Troxel is an award-winning American artist whose pieces have been exhibited in both solo and group events nationally. Though he describes his art as non-objective, it explores concepts relating to age and time. In addition, the idea of futurism, mid-century modernism, Art Deco, and timeless aesthetics, all find a place within Troxel's work. He employs both new and repurposed materials, as well as man-made mediums such as plastic, combined with century-old wood.
