About this artwork
I've been living in Brittany for a few years now, a region of France known for its rainfall. Part of that reputation is true, but it's also true that there are some very beautiful days, lovely forests, and magnificent landscapes. I live not far from a river called the Vilaine, which can swell enormously, reaching its very banks and disrupting the lives of the inhabitants. I began the pieces "Flood #1" and "Flood #2" during the floods that struck the region in the winter of 2024. I then left them in the rain for several days before finally resuming and reworking them. These two paintings are therefore both inspired by and shaped by nature and its implacability.
