About this artwork
An intimate scene: two figures seated around a table, stylized in a geometric style. One smokes, the other meditates, and on the table, small objects—a candle, a notebook—provide a sense of familiar scale. Warm colors, oranges and ochres, envelop the scene in a suspended calm.
I wanted to capture this moment of ordinary human experience: a pause, a shared silence, a waft of smoke. The cigarette is merely a pretext for depicting time standing still,… this liminal space where thoughts drift. I sought simplicity, slowness, almost tenderness.
