Sharon's paintings are an exploration of the abstract qualities of light, rhythm, repetition and movement that she finds in landscape. This series was produced during her residency at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London Docklands on the Thames foreshore and are a response to exposure to weather, expansive skies, tides and turbulent water. Sharon Drew's paintings are an exploration of the abstract qualities of light, rhythm, repetition, and movement that she discovers through landscapes. The UK-based artist travels to the shores of the Thames and the coasts of Cornwall and Kent, reveling in 'exposure to weather, expansive skies, as well as tides and turbulent waters'. Drew makes outdoor sketches in oils and watercolors that help her observe the moment. She uses these impressions as visual metaphors when painting in her studio.
