About this artwork
Because of the excessive, circular color radiation, I have chosen as the title of the picture that of the novel by Henry Miller (1891--1980)
-- "tropic of cancer" -- was adopted, but without going into any further detail about its content.
The formal eye-catcher of the picture is the deep red circle on the Plexiglas pane, which extends into the color scene and beyond the edge of the picture. The transparent part of this pane overlays the differently… colored circular lines, which form a powerful interaction between the center and the periphery.
The rectangle, which is also deep red, causes a disturbance; it pushes itself into the left-centered area from the outside with weakening colors.
Siegfried Bausch, a versatile artist, moves between painting and sculpture, his roots lie in mathematics and civil engineering. Using acrylic paints, he uses gestural abstraction and geometric precision, which create an effective contrast. With the help of his art, he expresses the contradictions between idealized social ideas and experienced reality. His abstract works encourage the viewer to explore personally and reflect emotionally.
