About this artwork
In this work, I chose to work with black, a color that for me embodies depth, silence, and strength. I used fragments of hemp, salvaged from discarded fishing nets, materials that carry with them a memory of work, fatigue, the sea, and time. I delicately placed them on the surface, allowing them to intertwine and shape themselves almost spontaneously, until they suggested the shape of a body, of a suspended, fragile movement.
The relief, though… immersed in darkness, conveys a gentle presence, like a breath captured by the material. It is a gesture of care for what remains, a way to give new life to what was once waste, transforming it into a trace, a memory, a poetic gesture.
