About this artwork
In WILD, I wanted to capture a moment of confusion, that living and shifting tension that arises between control and chaos. I chose to work with cotton and hemp threads, salvaged from old fishing nets—materials that carry with them a memory of the sea, time, and use. I wove them, knotted them, and let them settle on the canvas like organisms in motion, guided more by instinct than reason.
The total whiteness isn't absence, but breathing space. It's… a suspension, a silence that amplifies the lines and shadows of the threads, creating an emotional geography, a map of gestures and hesitations. Ultimately, this work doesn't seek a definitive form. Rather, it's a frozen moment, a thought that twists around itself before dissolving.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
