About this artwork
Standing before this work of mine, I feel I wanted to capture a moment of suspension, as if everything were immersed in a deep, slow breath. I chose a palette of grays and soft tones because I wanted light and shadow to merge, without clear boundaries, in an almost imperceptible movement. It's a vision born more from a state of mind than a specific location: an undefined expanse, perhaps sea, perhaps sky, where everything dissolves and recomposes… itself in silence.
While I was painting, I was especially interested in the idea of the threshold, that point where visible reality is lost in thought. Each glaze, each shift in tone is a way to convey the sense of waiting, of time passing slowly. Ultimately, this work speaks of stillness and depth: an invitation to pause, to truly look at what lies beyond appearances.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
