About this artwork
I created this work as if I were walking at night through a city that still doesn't want to fully reveal itself: I glimpse fragmented lights, reflections on the water, and silhouettes of buildings fading into color. At the same time, I let it speak for itself as an abstract work, where the subject builds and fades amidst layers of color.
I use quick brushstrokes, quick strokes, and scratches on the surface to convey both haste and memory; the paint… is worked with a palette knife, scraped, and reworked until the canvas retains the marks of the gesture. Deep blues and incandescent yellows collide and merge, while oranges and whites emerge like flashes that recall human presence.
This work of mine was born from the need to be present: each sign is a trace, a small assertion of my passage in a world where we often walk on tiptoe.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
