About this artwork
This work of mine is born from an intimate dialogue with darkness. The black background represents profound silence, the suspension between one thought and another, a space where everything seems lost. From this darkness, however, cracks of light emerge, streaks of white, blue, and gold, like escape routes, glimmers that interrupt the darkness and become passages to something larger, more alive.
The shades of blue are breath, air filtering through… the density of the night; white is the echo of something remembered, a presence that endures; ochre represents matter, earth, physical memory. Throughout, the vertical lines, like rain or tears, trace a downward movement but also the idea of a necessary descent to find the light again.
It's a work of contrasts and intersections. Light doesn't dominate the darkness, but inhabits it, sculpts it, creates openings that become escape routes. In these openings, the gaze can breathe.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
