About this artwork
This is my work, "A Reason." When I created it, I wasn't just painting a face, but trying to give form to a thought, an idea that torments me. Choosing is never easy, right? Every decision, small or large, carries with it a burden, an intrinsic difficulty. And it is precisely this internal struggle, this search for "a reason" to move forward or to take a path, that I wanted to capture on canvas. The dark, vigorous strokes, almost a tangle of emotions,… draw a face emerging from the shadows, an expression that bears the marks of deep contemplation and the difficult acceptance of choices made or to be made. It is my visual reflection on the burden of freedom, the ability to choose, and its inevitable complexity.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
