This work of mine was born from the encounter between matter and music. I wanted to give shape to Freddie Mercury's iconic face using thousands of small steel spheres, a cold and concrete material, yet capable of reflecting light and emitting it with living energy, just like his voice.
Mercury's face emerges almost like a sculpture, shaped by the density and arrangement of the spheres, which capture and diffuse the reflections of the surrounding… environment. Light becomes an integral part of the work, continually shifting its expression and strength.
Against the colorful and vibrant background, I let instinctive gestures take over: splashes, writings, signs and words that speak of freedom, creativity and passion, the same values that Freddie embodied on stage.
It's a tribute to the undying creative force, to the courage to be yourself and shine, even when the world seems too gray.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
