The work is framed.
I composed the face of Queen Elizabeth II (THE QUEEN), a regal figure, in the center using scrap steel and brass, creating a textured, weathered relief that overlaps the collage base. The canvas is constructed with clippings from the Daily Telegraph dated June 2, 1953, while a Pop Art version of the same icon appears to the side, a visual reference to her presence in culture. The yellow ribbon with the words "KEEP THE DISTANCE"… suggests a healthy and respectful relationship with those close to us, a particularly timely theme. The message I want to convey is the importance of the female figure: respect, admiration, love, and non-violence, celebrated through recycled materials and contemporary languages.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
