This work was born from the desire to reinterpret an eternal icon: Marilyn Monroe. I wanted to breathe new life into her through a humble, often forgotten material—scrap brass—transforming it into something golden, precious, almost sacred.
The image of Marilyn, a symbol of charm, vulnerability, and power, thus emerges from fragments of metal, as if her figure were recomposed from residual matter, from the imperfect.
The word "Danger" on the edge… is not just a warning, but a cry. It represents the constant danger women still face today, a silent yet powerful denunciation of a society that too often exploits their image and forgets their essence.
Through this work, I want to express that beauty, strength, and fragility coexist in the same body, in the same gaze. And that what we consider "waste" can, in reality, become light.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
