The work is framed.
In this work, I wanted to represent a modern-day Mona Lisa. I used recycled materials, including steel and titanium, to create a contrast between the tradition of the classical image and the harshness of today's technology.
The background is a collage of maps, writings, images, and symbols drawn from contemporary language: references to computers, artificial intelligence, social networks, and digital communication. All these… elements create a sort of visual landscape that represents our era of connections, speed, and constant information.
The figure of the Mona Lisa emerges from this visual chaos as an icon that resists time, reinterpreted in a contemporary yet still recognizable key, capable of dialoguing with our technological and fragmented present.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
