I composed this canvas by layering reassembled cutouts of Munch's The Scream posters on an acrylic background, transforming the icon of despair into a jagged and fragmented surface. Acid colors, spray paint marks, and "danger" tape frame the screaming face, while logos and consumer images insinuate themselves like layers of superficial skin. For me, the work speaks to the preoccupation of a subject who is losing his interiority… in favor of a world of objective images: what matters is appearance, no longer being. I wanted to stage the loss of subjectivity, the layering of visual masks that transform identity into spectacle. It is a denunciation and an invitation: come closer and try to hear the voice screaming behind the glossy surface.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
