In this work, I wanted to represent Spider-Man as a symbol of resilience, recycling, and rebirth. The hero's figure is made entirely of steel recovered from industrial waste, materials that in their previous lives were destined to be forgotten, but here find new form and meaning.
I chose to place him in an abstract city inspired by New York, constructed through an interweaving of lines and primary colors—red, blue,… and yellow—evoking energy, chaos, and urban movement. The steel, with its sheen and texture, contrasts with the vibrant colors, becoming a common thread linking the superhero to the metropolitan landscape around him.
For me, Spider-Man is not just a comic book character, but a metaphor for the contemporary human being who, like the metal he is made of, manages to reinvent himself and find strength even among the waste and complexity of the modern city.
Silvana Di Vora, a self-taught artist, uses watercolor, acrylic on canvas, and scrap materials to create works brimming with light and movement. She experiments with figurative and abstract art, using rapid brushstrokes and intense monochromes, highlighting the three-dimensionality and luminosity of unexpected details. Her works, often melancholic and dynamic, convey that even from darkness, the most intense light and vibrant color can emerge, instilling vitality and hope in the viewer.
