About this artwork
The surface of the great northern lake was slowly changing, the ice beginning to melt in horizontal patches, creating a different landscape. The gray-blue colors became increasingly intense and pronounced. The thick clouds began to thin out, revealing a clear sky, bringing a different light... In a few days, warm colors would prevail over cold ones. Spring is coming.
This vision of his homeland was chosen by artist Akseli Gallen-Kallele in 1919… to represent the primitive life he wanted to immerse himself in. Among Finland's 188,000 lakes, his gaze fell particularly on Lake Keitel, the so-called Witches' Lake, and it is precisely this lakeside corner that represents my tribute to the great Finnish artist. 09-Apr-2016
Silvano Crespi is a painter with a background in Political Science and a deep passion for oil painting, born from his study of the great European masters of the 18th and 19th centuries. He uses a reflective, introspective, and post-Impressionist technique, characterized by broad areas of color, a focus on light and shadow, vibrant colors, and perspectives that evoke infinity. His works, imbued with natural landscapes and atmospheric influences, convey an intense emotion of silent contemplation, celebrating the fleeting nature of time and the eternal relationship between the individual and the universe.
