About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the calm and powerful magic of the Lofoten Islands. Through soft brushstrokes and intense colors, I conveyed the serenity of the water and the majesty of the snow-capped mountains. This painting will convey a sense of peace and wonder, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in a corner of pristine nature and feel its vibrant energy.
The Lofoten Islands are an archipelago in northwest Norway, stretching between… the counties of Nordland and Troms. They have a total area of 1,227 km² and a population of over 24,000. The area is characterized by mountains, the highest of which is Higravstinden (1,161 m), whose smooth walls drop almost vertically into the sea. They are located approximately 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, yet their climate is characterized by relatively mild temperatures, thanks largely to the Gulf Stream. Svolvaer is the oldest Viking town, with archaeological finds dating back to 3,000–4,000 BC.
Silvano Crespi is a painter with a background in Political Science and a deep passion for oil painting, born from his study of the great European masters of the 18th and 19th centuries. He uses a reflective, introspective, and post-Impressionist technique, characterized by broad areas of color, a focus on light and shadow, vibrant colors, and perspectives that evoke infinity. His works, imbued with natural landscapes and atmospheric influences, convey an intense emotion of silent contemplation, celebrating the fleeting nature of time and the eternal relationship between the individual and the universe.
