Self-portrait made in my garden, during the pandemic in 2020. Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I used a palm leaf to cover my naked body. The photograph was taken in a couple of shots, like all my self-portraits. I try to make my work authentic, spontaneous, rustic, direct.
Use the natural light of the morning. One of the many mornings of the pandemic, locked up and distressed. But I titled my work "Kindness", a tribute to Mother Earth.
In this work,… I capture the duality between nature and the human essence, using movement and the dramatic contrast of black and white. With this photograph, I seek to reveal the strength and ethereal grace of the human being in sync with the natural environment, creating a piece that invites reflection on our connection with the world around us. The energy of this piece will bring a sense of peace and deep admiration to any home.
Printed on museum paper. Signed and numbered. Certificate of authenticity.
Silvina Batista (Argentina, 1973) is a contemporary fine art photographer whose work explores identity, inner states, and symbolic landscapes through stages of photography and poetic self-portraiture. Rooted in a conceptual approach, her practice uses the body as a narrative device, constructing images that oscillate between presence and absence, intimacy and distance. Her photographs evoke silent atmospheres, where light, gesture, and space become carriers of emotional and symbolic meaning. Batista's work has been exhibited in Argentina and internationally. Her artistic book of self-portarits is part of the permanent collection of The Center Ceramique Library in Maastricht, the Netherlands. She has been recommended by Singulart Gallery for presentation to galleries participating in Paris Photo, reinforcing the international projection of her work within the contemporary photography scene. She currently lives and works in Argentina. Not AI.
