About this artwork
The absolute protagonist is the colour and the contrast between bright and dark shades as well as between smooth cracked surfaces, to signify the eternal dualism between light and shadow, between good and evil.
In my work, I explore emotional vivacity through the fusion of acrylic, chalk and pigments. The explosions of color symbolize hope and rebirth, inviting the viewer to reflect on their own life, bringing a transformative and life-giving energy… to any space.

Trained by a renowned Sicilian artist and with a degree in cultural heritage conservation, Simona Messina works with brushes, palette knives, and acrylics. Shifting from figurative representation to abstraction, her works are layered, influenced by the sign painting of Hans Hartung and the energy of Pollock, with the occasional addition of charcoal and gold leaf.
