About this artwork
In this work, the observer is invited to embark on a journey through deep and indistinct emotions, transported by glazes of earthy and rusty tones mixed with multiple shades of sea blue.
The transparency effects obtained by overlapping different layers of acrylic inks give the work a dreamy character, while the gilding, which takes on different shades depending on the angle, gives it luminosity.
The interplay of colors makes the canvas vibrant… and adds intensity to the visual experience, while evoking a sense of vastness and mystery.
Trained by a renowned Sicilian artist and with a degree in cultural heritage conservation, Simona Messina works with brushes, palette knives, and acrylics. Shifting from figurative representation to abstraction, her works are layered, influenced by the sign painting of Hans Hartung and the energy of Pollock, with the occasional addition of charcoal and gold leaf. The poetics of contrast dominates her art, manifesting itself in dualisms between light and shadow, form and material, smooth and rough surfaces. The end result is unique abstract works that integrate seamlessly into contemporary design spaces. Each painting is designed to transform sophisticated spaces, adding a touch of exclusivity and personality.
Significant professional experience in the world of design has enriched her artistic practice, where it is clear that her love of art blends perfectly with her passion for home decor.
