About this artwork
It is a handmade artistic sculpture depicting two faces wrapped in a flowing cloak: an adult (probably a mother) and a child, positioned one above the other in a protective embrace. The faces are hand-sculpted from clay or unglazed ceramic, with soft, stylized features; the eyes are accentuated with clear details that catch the light.
The cloak and part of the dresses are made of a mosaic of small beads and tubular glass tiles: predominantly blue… and emerald green tones, with white and silver inserts that create reflections and movement.
Hair highlighted with amber/brown and black glass tiles for the boy, adding depth and contrast.
The base, modelled in a simple and natural way, in terracotta colour similar to the faces, supports the composition.
Strong contrast between the warm, matte surface of the faces and the shine of the beads, which gives an elegant and contemporary effect.
