The Samurai heroine is in a proud and resolute pose, with the traditional Japanese armor detailed in burnished metal and golden decorations. Her face, sculpted with an impassive and determined expression, conveys strength and pride. The catana is on her shoulder but is ready to be used. The composition creates a powerful contrast between the tradition represented by the samurai woman and the visual chaos… of contemporaneity, suggesting a reflection on the conflict between ancient values and the unbridled consumerism of modern society.
The Samurai woman symbolizes the need to never give up in protecting one's identity, rights and freedom by all means in the face of the imposition of values and lifestyles that can lead elsewhere.
The dignity of each person should be considered the most important of the ancient “Traditions”, the only one that must never stop fighting.
« "Each work offers the viewer a sinuous game of shapes always different from each other, divided by cracks that run endlessly through the entire work." »
Simone Parri, an Italian painter and sculptor, has exhibited throughout Italy. His works can also be found in several private collections in the United States. Parri approaches art with the philosophy that it is not about filling an empty space with a form, it is adding empty space to a form that already exists. He disassembles each shape or form, then reassembles it, adding “the void”. The sculptures are made of plastic polymers which are mounted/suspended on plexiglass.
