About this artwork
.
It doesn't matter what you've been told, it matters what you feel.
I always connected with virgins and I haven't connected with any religion for a long time, I even criticize them a lot.
They say that the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared to an Indian four times in Mexico in the year 1531. He described the virgin as dark-skinned and with mestizo features. And today it is one of the most deeply rooted stories in the… town and has been present in important social processes such as independence, the reform, the Mexican revolution.
.
Many times later it became venerated by different religions such as Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, among others.
Work made on natural canvas, with acrylic, oil pastel, charcoal, pencil and Indian ink

« Without realizing it, art became my best tool for expression. It sensitized me to the extreme and it became a necessity of life. »
Sofía Sibru is an experienced painter from Uruguay whose works have been featured in exhibitions nationally. Passionate about art ever since she was a kid, Sibru developed her artistic style around whimsical figurative paintings in acrylic on canvas. Using bright color palettes and exaggerated forms, her work is full of curious characters that spark a childlike wonder.
