About this artwork
Pears in Grey - Technique: Oil on canvas panel - Dimensions: 30x40 cm - Year: 2025
I painted these pears as an exercise, but along the way I realized that something more was emerging.
The contrast between light and shadow, the choice of monochrome, the suspended stillness of the scene… it all brought me to a feeling of silent intimacy.
It’s a peaceful image, but also slightly melancholic. Like those moments when you pause to look at simple things,… and realize you haven’t done that in a long time.
Solaria Ferro, born in Pisa in 1975, is an emerging visual artist with a background in Quantitative Methods for Economics. She works with mixed techniques on paper and canvas, oscillating between figurative and abstract, with a compositional rigor and chromatic precision deriving from her quantitative training. The result of the balance between travel memories and Tuscan roots, her work investigates the symbolism and duality of existence, giving universal emotions through recognizable subjects. Her works aim to create a pause for reflection, opening a window on the deepest emotional world.
