About this artwork
Winter days in Cilento and winter days in my homeland, Germany. Everywhere the leaves are turning red-orange. I'm in the forest, here and there, and the forest reveals its structure, in December. Suddenly, you can see through it, see things that weren't there before, and I enjoy losing myself in this beautiful atmosphere, absorbing these colors and shapes, for my image, for myself. I have free choice as to which path I want to take and let myself… be surprised by where it leads me. The daylight soon disappears, the last rays of sun warm my soul. It's the quiet landscapes, inside, that have so much to tell, that calm me, despite the fact that I've lost myself in the inner labyrinth...
This picture belongs to the series: Quiet landscapes - Cilento a casa
Mount 40 x 30 cm
Sonja Kalmanfi is a painter who creates her art on canvas and paper using pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media. Her work is impressionistic and romantic, skillfully moving between realism and abstraction, masterfully capturing light, color, and moods. Her works convey a sensual melancholy and invite viewers to connect deeply with nature and their own inner selves at the threshold between dream and reality. She primarily uses the Cilento National Park in Italy as her setting and source of inspiration, where she spends time regularly. In her paintings, the landscapes of this country merge with the artist herself, her inner self, her experience. Sonja has a unique form of color perception. Behind every number, a color appears for her (e.g., 5 = midnight blue), a form of synesthesia in which sensory impressions merge. This intuitive perception shapes her artistic work.
