Time Notes 2019 is a further development of the Time Spiral series. While Time Spiral visualizes the rising and setting times of the sun and moon, Time Notes takes it one step further: it divides time into finer segments and translates specific moments of the solar and lunar movements into tones.
Based on real astronomical data from Berlin (2019) and the harmonic principle of the circle of fifths, twelve circular drawings on transparent paper were… created – a synesthetic score in which time becomes both visible and audible. Overlaps of the sun and moon are marked by perforated dots; black represents nights when neither the sun nor the moon appears, and golden yellow marks nights illuminated only by the moon. The seasonal colors and the choice of instruments reflect the artist’s synesthetic perception of time and the rhythm of the year. August follows the deep blue tones of July and is expressed through reddish-brown and neon pink hues that evoke the transition toward autumn.
