Time Notes 2019 is a further development of the Time Spiral series. While Time Spiral depicts the rising and setting times of the sun and moon, Time Notes goes a step further: It divides time into finer segments and translates moments of the sun and moon's movements into sounds.
Based on astronomical data from Berlin (2019) and the harmonic principle of the circle of fifths, twelve circular drawings were created on transparent paper – a synesthetic… score in which time becomes visible and audible. Overlays of the sun and moon are marked by punched dots; black represents nights without sun and moon, golden yellow for nights with the moon alone. The seasonal colors and choice of instruments reflect the artist's synesthetic perception. October combines the brown tones of September with warm oranges, reflecting the full intensity of autumn.
