Die Serie „Time Spiral“ visualisiert die Zeit anhand der Bewegungen von Sonne und Mond.
Die Auf- und Untergangszeiten wurden 2018 in Berlin recherchiert und in einer kreisförmigen Struktur dargestellt.
Schwarz steht für die Nacht ohne Sonne und Mond, Gelb für Stunden mit Mondlicht in der Nacht.
Die saisonalen Farben zeigen die Tageszeiten, in denen nur die Sonne sichtbar ist, während unbemalte Bereiche jene hellen Stunden markieren, in denen Sonne… und Mond gleichzeitig am Himmel stehen.
Die monatlichen Farben folgen dem Konzept der 24 Solar Terms, einem ostasiatischen Zyklus der Jahreszeiten.
Im Juni geht das frische Türkis des Frühjahrs allmählich in ein tiefes Sommerblau über – eine Farbe, die die Fülle des Lichts und die Weite des Himmels widerspiegelt.
Dieses Werk interpretiert Zeit nicht nur visuell, sondern verwandelt sie in Töne – als akustische Erfahrung von Zeit.

Soo Youn Kim is an award-winning painter, draftsman and textile artist who resides in Germany. Her art has been featured in both group and solo exhibitions nationally. Time, rhythm, tones and creation are all themes in her works. As a student, she was fascinated by the geometric language in the visual arts. Setting her own order and rules, she uses geometric standards to simplify forms of nature, transferring invisible terms into new forms.
