About this artwork
Still life with bottles treated abstractly with oil and knife.
The palette, often in more subdued tones, suggests more than it imposes a similar construction. The blue tones are counterbalanced by the red ocher which warms the canvas. The multiplication of the layers brings a generous material, rich of underlying colors allowing to warm these blues and grays. The artist always chooses to warm up the cold colors with red ochres in the lower layers.… Choose your black or natural wood frame.
The edges of the painting are painted and a hanging system is placed at the back.
This canvas was exhibited at the Quesnel Morinieres museum for 4 months in 2020.

Sophie Dumont is a contemporary French painter born in Paris in 1964. She currently lives and works in Normandy. Her work, primarily oil on canvas, explores the memory of places through abstract landscapes, stylized libraries, and studio interiors. Through the layering of numerous paints and subtle collages, she constructs structured compositions where matter, light, and color interact. Her work is distinguished by a balance between architecture and pictorial sensibility. Exhibiting for over twenty years in France and internationally, notably in Germany, Canada, Belgium, and Italy, Sophie Dumont's work is now featured in numerous private and museum collections.
