About this artwork
"Low Tide at Langrune" by Sophie Dumont is an invitation to the serene contemplation of seascapes. On this canvas, the artist captures the tranquil and soothing essence of low tide on Langrune beach. Choice of black or natural wood frame.
Shades of blue dominate the composition, evoking the sky and sea, while sandy hues add a warm, earthy feel to the painting. The delicate texture and subtle brushstrokes demonstrate Dumont's mastery in depicting… natural elements.
The distant horizon, where the sky meets the sea, creates a sense of infinity and escape, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in this peaceful landscape. The reflections on the water and the variations in light bring a lively dimension to the work, capturing an ephemeral moment of tranquility and natural beauty.
« To sublimate, to appropriate the subject, to keep only the essential. »
Sophie Dumont is a contemporary French painter born in Paris in 1964. She currently lives and works in Normandy. Her work, primarily oil on canvas, explores the memory of places through abstract landscapes, stylized libraries, and studio interiors. Through the layering of numerous paints and subtle collages, she constructs structured compositions where matter, light, and color interact. Her work is distinguished by a balance between architecture and pictorial sensibility. Exhibiting for over twenty years in France and internationally, notably in Germany, Canada, Belgium, and Italy, Sophie Dumont's work is now featured in numerous private and museum collections.
