About this artwork
The Deceiver explores human duplicity through a fragmented figure, both expressive and disturbing.
The face, distorted by inner tension, seems to oscillate between truth and dissimulation.
The snake, coiled around the body, stands as a silent symbol of cunning and manipulation. It does not emerge as a threat, but as an intimate presence, almost inseparable from the being.
Through raw materials and pronounced impasto, I wanted to translate this… unstable boundary between what is shown and what is hidden.
The work questions the sincerity of human relationships, where appearances sometimes take precedence over authenticity.

Steeve Grangier is a self-taught Swiss painter and sculptor who creates his art outside of academic circles, exploring oil paints, impasto, and organic elements. His technique is rooted in a raw and figurative neo-expressionism, using materials, expressive distortions of the body and face, and spontaneous gestures to convey the instability of existence. He seeks to capture energy and the constant flux of identity, transmitting through each canvas an intense inner tension, a sense of movement, and perpetual transformation.
