Stefano Carulli, a painter by training with a scientific background, explores the aesthetic and symbolic potential of the material world. His practice began with the use of alabaster plaster and concrete powder on wooden panels, creating surfaces that evoke natural formations and moments suspended in time, filled with infinite possibilities.
His research has since expanded into sculpture through **RetroFuture**, a series in which contemporary objects are transformed into fossil-like archaeological remains. Stripped of their original function and context, these objects become silent witnesses of our civilisation, reflecting on memory, disappearance, and the ways in which the present might be rediscovered and misunderstood by a distant future.
