The work reflects the cultural tensions between external control and inner freedom. In a world permeated by navigation systems, algorithms, and self-optimization messages, the concept of confidence becomes both a currency and a burden. The work aims to renegotiate the seemingly simple question—"Which path am I taking?"—in all its complexity and contradictions. It also addresses the media's influence on self-image:
The metallic, exaggerated typography… appears artificial, “inflated,” almost toxic—a commentary on digital self-promotion, capitalized positivity, and decision-making pressure in neoliberal everyday life.
I only ever produce one original print of each work. The work is produced within 14 days.
Steffen Wagner, a native of Berlin, applies his training in product and industrial design to his digital, typographic works. Using multi-layered typography, he creates graphically precise motifs inspired by clarity, reduction, and conceptual depth. His works, which blend urban aesthetics with individual perspectives, encourage reflection on motivation, self-discipline, and sociocultural influences.
