About this artwork
Stephanie Bing's large-format painting unfolds a scene as complex as it is rich in detail, presented as a collage of architectural, museum-like, and natural elements. At its center is a modern, cubist building, its facade punctuated by numerous windows and balconies. A multitude of objects are grouped around this structure: the foreground is dominated by an antique-looking, greenish-shimmering porcelain teapot, a Japanese bottle vase, several silvery… fish, and a small, nostalgic-looking toy car. Green apples lie between them on a decorative diamond pattern reminiscent of classic tablecloths.
The middle ground is dominated by a back view of a Roman bust, flanked by organically intertwined sculptures reminiscent of exhibits from the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Stephanie Bing combines the intellectual wealth of her intercultural travels and the versatile techniques of fine art in her paintings. Her works are characterized by a mixture of pop art and cultural allusions, combined with a fascination for interiors that awaken to living sanctuaries through collages and old-masterly glazing techniques. The emotional resonance of her art is a kaleidoscope of joy, curiosity and a deep invitation to interact that draws viewers into her magical, atmospheric spaces.
