About this artwork
This drawing is about my mother's stories of her family being taken prisoner by Stalin's forces during WWII, and being kept in a forced labor camp in Archangelsk, Siberia. The doll is a dressed in a traditional Polish dress (my mother's homeland.) I think of my mother's experiences now as I see Putin's brutal attack on Ukraine, and I am filled with the irrational fear (being in the US) of being taken prisoner by an irrational cruel dictator.
