From the Africa Series. Queen of the Elephants.
Cradling Elke in his massive tusks, the Bull Elephant Abu curls back his trunk to trumpet Elke's arrival, and her introduction to the herd of 14 elephants at Abu's Camp. Abu Camp was the culmination of a 30-year conservation effort by Randall Moore. After being rejected by the Kenyan and South African governments, his attempts to establish an elephant conservancy were finally realized when he found… a sympathetic government in Botswana that saw the potential benefit to tourism and backed creating a home for elephants that were orphaned, survivors of culling, separated from their herds, or living unhappily in safari parks. In the early 1990's Moore pioneered elephant-back safaris in Africa, ending the long-held belief that the African elephant could not be trained.
Stephen Wayda is an internationally published photographer best known for his demonstrative images of celebrities and women. In the creation of entertaining and compelling images he is widely regarded as a master in the use of composition and light, both natural and artificial. Wayda's photographs of A-list celebrities, pop culture icons, supermodels, musicians and the “girl next door” are a depiction of personality, sensuality, sexuality, and most of all, attitude. He is known for the use of light to create a mood of realism that captures the intimacy and openness of his subjects, bringing out those fleeing moments of their humanity and their sense of self.
