About this artwork
Collaboration. Spontaneity. Attitude. I seek to capture my subject’s attitude…
that moment in time of self, personality, sex, fantasy, openness and intimacy.
Letting my subject move and improvise, I‘d move with them like a dance,
always looking at the composition through the lens. The images need to be
compelling, as I see myself more as an entertainer and artist …not as a
philosopher. I never wanted to be a photographer. I never went to
photography… school. I was a cowboy living on a mountain horse ranch
in Utah. I was blessed… my photography evolved through luck, opportunity
and mentoring. My sense of wanderlust gave me opportunity, and I always
risked taking the road I had never traveled. What I did in my photography
career no longer exists. Every image, be it 35mm, medium format or
8x10-inch format, had to be perfect… in composition, exposure, subject and most of all in attitude. Photoshop was not an option. Original capture.

Stephen Wayda is an internationally published photographer best known for his demonstrative images of celebrities and women. In the creation of entertaining and compelling images he is widely regarded as a master in the use of composition and light, both natural and artificial. Wayda's photographs of A-list celebrities, pop culture icons, supermodels, musicians and the “girl next door” are a depiction of personality, sensuality, sexuality, and most of all, attitude. He is known for the use of light to create a mood of realism that captures the intimacy and openness of his subjects, bringing out those fleeing moments of their humanity and their sense of self.
