A LOT of blue here. I broke things down into boxes and reconstructed a narrative I saw unfold one night up around the Public Library, in Midtown. A woman was trying to find out where the Blue Note jazz club was. A policeman didn't know. A man walking his little white dog didn't know. (I did know. I finally got to her and told her.) The shapes and representation in most boxes is highly stylized. I sketched out many shcematics of which images should…
go into which boxes, the positions. This painting carries a dreamlike feeling to me.
