Many years ago, I visited Paris for the first time. The city left an unforgettable impression on me — its streets, small shops, quiet corners, and fleeting moments seemed filled with a timeless kind of poetry. Since then, I have carried within me the dream of dedicating an entire series of artworks to this extraordinary city: “Paris.”
Now, guided mostly by memory, I am finally beginning that series. With the passing of time, those memories have transformed… — softer, more poetic, almost like fragments from an old fairy tale. The Paris I recreate is not only the city itself, but also the emotional landscape it left behind in me.
« My perception of the world is always from a comical point of view. I have reached the conclusion for myself, that what matters the most, is the human ability to laugh. »
Steven Lamb is an award-winning artist based in Canada whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States and Brazil. Creating in a distinctive style which he describes as being both whimsical and grotesque, he views his works as a tool for social commentary, not to criticize, but rather, to amuse and entertain. Lamb takes viewers on a journey through the streets of Montreal and Paris, often portraying café scenes, circuses, musicians, and clowns.
